Matthew Cerrone of Metsblog.com reported today that the Boston Red Sox are asking the New York Mets about the availability of OF Carlos Beltran. This was originally reported by Peter Gammons on MLB Network this afternoon.

Here is Cerrone’s piece about the potential trade and the current discussions taking place between both clubs:

  1. Ari Roth says:

I don’t understand why the Red Sox would want an aging, injured, and expensive player who thinks he’s above the team. Then again, he is better than Cameron if healthy. The upgrade isn’t worth Matsuzaka though. If the Mets pull off a deal like that, Sandy Alderson should already get Executive of the Year.
